With the needs of your guests, legal requirements, and wanting your event to run smoothly, it’s important to know what portable rentals you need for your event. Whether you’re looking for portable rentals for your wedding, festival, or another special event, every occasion requires specific rentals.

Read on to learn the types of portable rentals you need for your event.

The Types of Portable Rentals You May Need

Most events require standard portable restrooms, which can be found with different features such as hand sanitizer dispensers or flushing mechanisms. Along with standard portables, you may need additional or specialty rentals to properly accommodate your guests.

ADA Compliant Portable Restrooms

According to the Americans With Disabilities Act, at any public event, five percent of your portable restrooms, or one for every 20 standard rentals, must be handicap-accessible. ADA-compliant portable restrooms are designed similar to standard portable restrooms, however, they have an open interior, handrails, and a floor that’s level with the ground for easy entry. Handicap-accessible portable restrooms must be larger than standard portable restrooms. They are required to have 60 inches of unobstructed space to enable a wheelchair to make a 180-degree turn or a T-shaped space where a wheelchair can maneuver to make a 180-degree turn.

Handwashing Stations

Portable sinks are legally required to be at any events where food will be served to protect the health and safety of your vendors, employees, and guests. You should have at least one handwashing station for every 10 portable restrooms. They should be equipped with plenty of soap and paper towels, and come with a freshwater tank so that it doesn’t need to be connected to a water supply system.

In addition to your portable handwashing stations, increase sanitation with portable restrooms that have hand sanitizer dispensers.

Portable Restroom Trailers

If you’re hosting an outdoor wedding, festival, or another upscale event where you’re expecting many guests, you want to make sure your rentals provide comfortable amenities. Portable restroom trailers can be found with a variety of features, including:

  • Air conditioning and heat
  • Sinks with hot and cold water
  • Ventilation and exhaust to eliminate odor
  • Urinals and standard toilets that have a pedal flushing mechanism
  • Mirrors
  • Interior and exterior lights
  • Multiple stalls
  • Bluetooth stereo
  • Paper towel and soap dispensers

Restroom trailers typically have multiple stalls and can be found in a variety of layouts to accommodate your needs. Luxury restroom trailers offer high-end design features, making them a great option for large, upscale events.

Holding Tanks

While most restroom trailers come with built-in wastewater holding tanks, others need to be connected to a sewer or septic tank for waste disposal. If your location doesn’t have access to a sewer or septic tank, a holding tank is required. Holding tanks guarantee proper, sanitary waste management by flushing waste into a sealed compartment until a certified septage disposal company can dispose of it.

Portable Restroom Rental Costs

While costs vary according to each vendor, there are many factors that can influence your portable restroom rental costs. The main factor that impacts overall rental costs is the amount of portable restrooms you need, which varies according to the number of expected guests, the type of event, and if there are restrooms already on-site. For example, if alcohol is being served at your event, we recommend increasing the number of restrooms by 15-20% since it’s a diuretic.

How frequently your rentals are serviced can also impact your rental expenses. For events lasting two to seven days, we recommend having your rentals serviced daily. If the venue isn’t spacious, you may need to rent fewer restrooms and have them serviced more frequently to ensure proper sanitation.

Further, the types of additional rentals your event requires can increase your rental costs. For example, if you need handwashing stations or holding tanks in addition to your standard and ADA-compliant portable restroom rentals.

When ordering portable restrooms for your event, timing is everything.  The changing of the seasons brings with it increased demands for rentals. This is because when the weather is nice during Spring and Fall, people want to be outside enjoying events like festivals, carnivals, and even outdoor weddings. When planning your next event, keep these things in mind to ensure you’re able to get the port-o-potties you need.

Best Time to Order Portable Restrooms and Restroom Trailers for Your Event

As mentioned earlier, Spring and Fall are usually the busiest times for portable toilet rental companies, especially March and October. That means lower inventories are available during these two months and that it’s more likely for things to sell out more quickly. Planning in advance is essential to securing the portable toilets needed for success.

One important thing to keep in mind is college football games are in season during the Fall. For our customers in Orlando, that means October is especially difficult for finding rentals. We recommend that you pre-plan as soon as you have the date and time of your event to avoid frustration.

Planning Your Potties

The first thing you must do is determine how many portable restrooms you’ll need for your event. Depending on how many you need, the amount of time in advance you order them matters.

Small Events (Requiring 1-10 Portable Restrooms)

When hosting a smaller event, it's likely you’ll be ok with standalone portable restrooms to get the job done. You can order the exact number you need for an event and there is typically a larger inventory. When ordering for a small event, we suggest calling us at least 2 weeks in advance but we suggest a month during the busier times of the year. A small event would be one with 1-20 portable restrooms.

Medium Events  (Requiring 10-30 Portable Restrooms and/or a Restroom Trailer)

Medium-sized events need a larger number of standalone restrooms or a mix of trailers and portable restrooms. Because of this, we suggest ordering at least two months in advance.

Large Events (Requiring Greater than 30 Portables and/or a Restroom Trailer)

For large events, you’ll most likely need to order restroom trailers to accommodate the number of guests you’ll have. There are typically fewer of these in stock than our smaller models, so we suggest ordering these at least 3 months in advance.

Please remember that March and October are the ‘high’ season for Florida.

Knowing when to order your portable restrooms can be a challenge, but always remember that the earlier the better. Avoid the frustrations of not being able to get the resource you need for that special event you’ve been planning. Contact the potty professionals at Anderson Rentals today!
